The Catholic Community Of Saint Bridget is a welcoming community of believers, grounded in faith, motivated by compassion, envisioning the future, empowered by the Spirit through baptism to use our personal and communal gifts to actively live the way Jesus calls us to live in the world today.

On the Journey Together

The Catholic Church has for centuries taught that it is primarily the duty of parents to see to the Baptism and raising of their children in the Faith. That is a very difficult task because of the many demands put on people who raise families, so parishes have long had support systems to help them. Still no matter how elaborate these systems may be, they are only aids to parents in the task of forming their children. If children learn to pray, if they learn the teaching of their Faith, if they love frequenting the sacraments, if they practice Christianity in their lives, it is only because their parents have been faithful to their God-given vocation.

Parents who enroll their children in the Religious Education Program at St. Bridget agree to support and encourage their children in the following ways.

  1. They agree to attend Sunday Mass with their children. The Catholic Church teaches that every Church member attend Sunday Mass. Attending Mass gives us the opportunity to pray with other members of the community, to hear the Word of God proclaimed in the scriptures, and to be nourished by the Word and the Gift of the Eucharist. By attending Mass parents show by their example, the importance of God in their lives.
  2. They agree to see that their children faithfully participate in classes and other activities such as a prayer services and service projects. (This may entail bringing them to the locations where activities take place.)
