The Six Components of the Confirmation Process

Prayer and Liturgy: 4 required including 1 retreat

As Catholics prayer is our way of communication with God.  In addition to weekly Mass, there are many other opportunities for prayer here at Saint Bridget. Students will be encouraged to explore some different prayer experiences here at Saint Bridget

REATREAT:
Two retreats are offered specifically for our Confirmation students.  Sign up for these options in December.

Justice: 4 required

Because the example of Jesus Christ teaches that the primary vocation of a Christian is to serve others, our program is designed to show the students the needs of others and how we as Catholic Christians are called to respond to them. Includes opportunities to learn and to serve others.

Weekly Mass

As Catholics we are blessed with the opportunity to have the Real Presence of Jesus with us at Mass.  Attending regularly is an important part of being a practicing Catholic.  Cannon Law requires that students not attending Mass be asked to postpone receiving the Sacrament of Confirmation.

Parish Community: 4 required including

2 Youth Group & 2 Stewardship

The Parish Community component of the program offers students an opportunity to grow as members of the St. Bridget Parish.  They will offer their time and talent to parish activities. Students will participate in Youth Group activities with their peers.

Class: 8 required

Small group instruction and faith sharing once a month.  Students will be placed in small groups with an adult facilitator.  They will begin each class with faith sharing, which are how all parish groups and meetings begin at Saint Bridget.  This will prepare them to join a Small Christian Community later.  Many of our adults belong to a Small Christian Community and find it helps them grow and deepen their faith.

Parents: 2 required

The Church has taught for centuries that it is primarily the duty of parents to see to the raising of their children in the Faith.  That is a very difficult task because of the many demands put on people who raise families, so parishes have created support systems to help them.  Still these programs are only aids to parents in their task of handing on our faith to their sons and daughters.

Realizing how important the example and participation of parents is we are asking that parents choose 2 events during the year to attend with their son or daughter.

If you are going to attend your son or daughter’s class or Youth Group please let the teacher or youth minister know ahead of time so they can put you to work!!
