Arrival

Students are expected to arrive on time for class or scheduled programs. The class time is better used by the teacher if class is not disturbed by tardy students.   Students will be expected to make up missed work.

Attendance

All Religious Education classes must be attended with illness or serious family difficulties being the only exception. No other activities—sports or leisure—should be viewed as more important. Children learn their priorities from the example of adults. If a child misses three consecutive classes or shows any erratic attendance patterns, the parents will be contacted to discuss how to ensure that the child will be able to move on to the next level the following year.

Behavior

It is important that all students do their best to be well-behaved and co-operative. The St. Bridget student is to display and expect fair treatment. Courtesy and respect should be shown at all times. The general guideline is do unto others as you would have them do unto you. Specific rules will be set by teachers and discussed in the beginning of the year.

Discipline Policy

Following the discussion of rules, the procedure will be:

First offense: Child will be told what was wrong and will be issued a verbal warning.

Second offense: Child will be told what the infraction was and the DRE and parents will be notified.

Third offense: Child will be removed from the classroom, parents will be contacted and the child and parents will be invited to join the Family based RE program.

Serious problems where the student has harmed himself, another student/teacher or private property will result in the child being removed from the class immediately with the parents and DRE being notified as soon as possible.

Dismissal

Parents and guardians are expected to pickup students on time at the end of Religious Education activities. A student will not be dismissed unless a parent, guardian or designated person is present.

Early dismissal must be accompanied by a note from the parent or the child will not be released. For safety of your child and all the children do not drive through the orange cones. Parents of students in grades 1-5 should meet their children at the doors of the auditorium.

Emergency Evacuation/Fire Drill

Procedures for evacuating the site of Religious Education activities in case of fire or other emergency situation will be discussed with catechists and students. Instructions will be posted in the classrooms.

Emergency & Storm Closing

If a Religious Education activity must be canceled due to inclement weather or for other emergency reasons an announcement will be made on WTIC 1080 and WFSB channel 3. Also on Website and answering machine.

Progress Reports

Mid year and final progress reports are sent home for grades one through ten. Parents and guardians are asked to read them carefully sign them and return them to the child’s teacher. If parents have concerns about their child’s progress they are encouraged to contact the students’ teacher and the DRE.

Records

Student records will remain private and confidential. The content of student files will be released only to authorized persons with approval of the parish. Copies of sacramental records may be obtained by call the Church office. (643-2403)
